Chandos Lake Project |
This house is located on Chandos Lake in Apsley, ON. What was tricky about this move was that attached to the house was a huge stone chimney that belonged to a stone fireplace inside of the building. This resulted in the addition of several tonnes of weight to the house. Furthermore, the owner of the building wanted the house moved to the lot next door, but did not want to lose any trees. As a result, we had to roll the house out to the left, then down towards the lake, and finally up a hill to the left and then rolled it back in over top of the new foundation. A very challenging project successfully completed! |

Here the house is sitting on the original lot. The owner wanted the house moved to the next lot over. |
In this photo, we have placed all of the steel beems (24 beams in total) under the building and are getting ready to roll the house off of the foundation. |
The house is now away from the old foundation, and we are getting ready to begin rolling the house down towards the lake. |
The house is now just about down to the lake, and we will begin rolling it sideways up to the new lot. |
At this point, the house is sitting next to the water, and we are preparing to roll the house up an incline to the new foundation. |

The boom truck is now pulling the house up the hill (the house remains level at all times using a ‘step’ method) |
The house has been lifted and rolled over the new foundation, now the tedious task of removing all the steel beams begins. |
The house is in it’s final resting spot….and the 100 tonne stone chimney survived the trip! Another fine job by Tedford House Movers!! |
